Photography

Photography is the art of capturing a real life image using special light reactive paper or sensors. Photography has grown in popularity over the last few years, mainly due to the price drop in digital cameras. Meaning the amateur photographer can achieve professional results with a little bit of time, effort and know how.

Although photography captures exactly what the camera sees, there is still a lot of room for artistic personality with the pictures. Lighting, focus, depth of field, and angles can all make the difference to the feel and emotion of a picture. Photography captures moments in time and if done well can keep the memory alive for a life time.

Photo editing has become much easier now, with photo editing tools being available to anyone who has a computer. This negates the need to by fancy film like sepia and black and white (although I have heard rumours that black and white development has practically ceased).

Although digital cameras are great for the amateur, to get better results you really need a good quality camera that takes film. With digital you can only enlarge an image so much before the edges become pixilated, where as the lines just become a bit less defined with film.
